Society, Innovation, Technology
Technological progress, globalisation and social change – the complexity and speed of developments are constantly increasing. Technological innovations are always embedded in social contexts. By taking both the technological and the societal perspective in the area of society, innovation and technology, we shape the future holistically.
Digital change requires broad discourse
Digital transformation has an impact on all areas of life and the economy. In addition to business models and industrial processes, the way we work, communicate or deal with knowledge is also changing. The availability of big data, artificial intelligence and learning machines are creating new fields of research and application. At the same time, the changes raise ethical, legal and social questions. We can only provide answers to these in a broad social discourse based on European values by answering questions, such as how coexistence, everyday life, work and the economy are changing, or what benefits people beyond technical feasibility and is widely accepted.
Innovation for the economy and society
We are convinced that innovations are created today above all when different disciplines contribute their perspectives. In this sense, the Federal Government is also aligning its High-Tech Strategy with major societal challenges in a mission-oriented manner. At the DLR Projektträger, we have expertise in shaping innovation as well as in transfer and have combined our competencies in the natural sciences, engineering, humanities and social sciences for this purpose.

Through events and public relations work, we network relevant actors and bring the results to the general public. We work and advise strategically, continuously evaluate activities, design concepts and thus provide valuable impulses for the further development of research and innovation funding.
As a think tank, we prepare studies and analyses, identify trends and derive possible measures. In summary, we help to bring innovations directly into companies and society as a whole.
