Expert from DLR-PT representing Cluster Medizin.NRW at Pharmadialog NRW
22nd September 2021 — Improving healthcare for patients in North Rhine-Westphalia is the goal of the NRW state government’s Pharmadialog NRW (NRW pharmaceutical dialogue), in which proven experts from industry, science and associations participate who are appointed ad personam by various state ministries and pharmaceutical industry representatives.
North Rhine-Westphalia’s Ministry of Culture and Science (MKW) has appointed Dr Patrick Guidato to participate in the Pharmadialogue. Guidato is Manager of the Cluster Medizin.NRW and Scientific Officer in the DLR-PT Health Division. He coordinates the activities of the Cluster Medizin.NRW office, which he set up with his team on behalf of the MKW in Düsseldorf in 2019. "I am very much looking forward to the exchange in the Pharmadialog. This is an important building block in making NRW even more attractive and better known as a location for clinical trials," says Guidato, who holds a doctorate in biochemistry, about his appointment.

Guidato will contribute his expertise to the "Clinical Trials" working group of the NRW Pharmadialogue and discuss the state as a top location for clinical drug trials together with other experts. "Here, I can also draw in particular on the broad-based work of the Cluster Medizin.NRW. In the cluster, we are working intensively to further improve the conditions for clinical trials in NRW. For example, we support the networking of university medicine sites in NRW," says Guidato, adding that he expects exciting synergies between Pharmadialog and his cluster activities.
The Cluster Medizin.NRW – DLR-PT accompanies strategic cooperation in medicine
The Cluster Medizin.NRW is the competence platform for strategic partnerships in the field of innovative medicine in NRW. It networks the relevant players and offers information, advice and support as well as an overview of funding opportunities. It also promotes networks and innovations that focus on the needs of patients and users from the very beginning.
To this end, this year, for example, the cluster launched the KliFoNet.NRW lighthouse (short for clinical research network NRW). The lighthouse forms a common umbrella for strategic topics, the starting point for position papers and white papers, a framework for applications for funding and the basis for joint collaborative projects and infrastructures for clinical research in NRW. One central project of the lighthouse is to strengthen NRW as a study location.
The cluster is funded by the MKW and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). DLR-PT took over management of the Cluster Medizin.NRW in 2019.
