Brussels FutureTalks: AI in VET – Chances for Intergenerational Fairness
7th October 2025 — AI is transforming the way we learn and work, and offers great potential for creating a more digital, fair, and innovative VET system. At the same time, it presents us with challenges we need to address and discuss with all stakeholders and generations.
AI can optimise learning processes through personalised platforms and simulations that improve access opportunities and training quality. At the same time, AI can help promote dialogue between generations and create access to the experiences of the older generation which has already gone through many transformations. Pedagogical innovation and a rethink are needed. Against the backdrop of this demanding set of challenges, we would like to ask:
- How can AI-supported educational solutions be designed to sustainably strengthen future generations?
- How can we prevent digital divides between young and old from jeopardising fairness? How can we – on the contrary – use AI to gain access to the experience of the older generation?
- What framework do we need today for the long-term development of sustainable paths?
Taking a visionary and action-oriented approach, the DLR Brussels FutureTalks provide a platform for outside-the-box discussions, focusing on how to shape Europe's future today. Addressing relevant topics in different settings throughout the year, Brussels FutureTalks insights and takeaways are geared to offer new and sustainable visions for the 21st century.
Together, we have the tools and knowledge to help shape Europe's future. Join us for the full series of Brussels FutureTalks – paving the way for tomorrow, today!
Intergenerational fairness calls for strategies that distribute opportunities fairly, e.g. by focussing on green technologies, digital expertise and the participation of all relevant stakeholders. With this event, we would like to offer a platform for dialogue between the generations and invite young experts to put their questions to political decision-makers. Education, politics, business and social partners must co-operate closely in order to enable fair and sustainable vocational training.
In light of the EU Skills Agenda, this 11th edition of the Brussels FutureTalks will contribute to the discussion for the Union of Skills. It will take a future-oriented focus on the main opportunities that are provided by the European and international cooperation in VET: What is needed for a more digital, fair and innovative development of VET? And with a sharp eye on FP 10, what research is necessary to support the above-mentioned goals.
This event is jointly organised by DLR Projektträger and the European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB). Unfortunately, virtual participation is not possible.
