DLR Projektträger joins the European Alliance for Apprenticeships
19th June 2024 — At a ceremony in Brussels on 17 and 18 June 2024, DLR Projektträger formally joined the European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA).
The EAfA is an initiative of the European Commission. It networks vocational training stakeholders in Europe and comprises more than 400 members: government institutions, implementing organisations, commercial companies, economic and social partner organisations and research institutes. The objectives of the Alliance include promoting youth employment, improving the quality of training and increasing the mobility of trainees within Europe.
DLR Projektträger is the first German project management organisation in the training alliance. It joined the Alliance following a visit by a delegation from the DLR Projektträger to the European Commission's Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion in 2023: Hannes Barske, Head of the Department for International Cooperation in Vocational Education and Training, and Stella Reschke from DLR Projektträger's Brussels office, presented their work to various Commission units. The Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion suggested that the DLR Projektträger become a member of the European Alliance for Apprenticeships in order to network even more intensively in the European vocational education and training (VET) landscape.
We are looking forward to working together in this impressive vocational training network. We can make multiple contacts here, with good prospects for the cooperation with partners in European and international countries.
The Alliance is not an association, but a network of the European Commission that serves communication and interaction among its members. Its aim is to increase the quality of vocational training and improve its image. The EAfA currently has four Working Groups:
- Learning mobility of apprentices
- Social inclusion and equality
- Green and digital transition
- The role of cities and regions in promoting apprenticeships
The collaboration gives DLR Projektträger better access to European funding topics and enables it to contribute to strategic developments in the European qualification of skilled labour, for example in connection with the "twin transition", the transition to a more sustainable and digital economy. In other fields in which the Directorate-General is active (e.g. labour mobility, governance of VET systems), the EAfA also provides opportunities for connection.
